Jeffco Commissioners Add TABOR deBrucing Question to Nov/2019 Ballot

Hello Jeffco Taxpayers/Voters,

The Jeffco Board of County Commissioners voted 3-0 today to place a ballot question on the Nov/2019 election to deBruce Jefferson County with a seven year sunset and collection of $16.1MM in 2020 to address public safety, roads and other essential services.

Non-property tax revenues (state grants, interest earned, fees, etc…) would be deBruced in perpetuity if the ballot question passes. For example, the Treasurer’s Office earns approx. $6MM in interest for the taxpayers and approx. $7.5MM in fees on tax distributions to taxing entitles. The seven year sunset applies to property tax revenues only.

This is a win-win ballot question for Jeffco. More to come on the ballot language. Great turnout today from the public for public comment!! I am proud to be part of the public process as your Jeffco Treasurer.

** Jeffco Voters will still vote on all future tax increases. DeBrucing does not affect voting on future tax increases.
